In Memoriam For Sister Jane: Connections and Community

by The Mane Intent | Sep 18, 2021 | Muse from The Round Pen

My sister Jane appreciated the value of connections and community. Connections is the name of a collaborative project she led together with her long-time friend and Owen Sound poet Liz Zetlin in 1994. When Jane was confronted with a personal crisis, her extensive...

For Connie with the Heart of a Lion

by The Mane Intent | Sep 10, 2021 | Muse from The Round Pen

Connie Oates has the heart of a lion. Because of that, I am grateful. Lions are natural leaders, encouraging us to be bold, be wise and be brave. Sometimes we need the strength and support of a lion to provide direction and to support our growth. Connie is that person...

It Takes The Herd — The Power of Connection

by The Mane Intent | Sep 10, 2021 | Muse from The Round Pen

Sometimes it takes the herd to invite connection and growth. When I met Stan and Susie, I could tell they were both eager to step into a new role as equine-assisted wellness facilitators. So are their humans, Tom and Victoria Fraser. This dynamic duo will soon work...

Look what arrived from across the ocean today - Th Look what arrived from across the ocean today - The White Raven by artist @tamsintheshed (Tamsin Abbott). White ravens, due to their rarity are often associated with transformation, new beginnings, and the bridging of different realms. This is one of many beautiful illustrations featured in a newly published book called Wild Folk. The book brings together the words of @jackiemorrisartist and the stained glass paintings of Tamsin Abbott, but the stories come from both, a true collaboration born out of friendship and hope. These are tales to make you see, listen and feel the wild magic that links stone, tree, fox and star. #raven #wildfolk

Sunny. This horse changed my life. We met on Kijij Sunny. This horse changed my life. We met on Kijiji. I, a ‘young’ woman of 48 knew very little about horses. We were introduced in a field of cows with piles of manure. In those early days I felt a mixture of awe and fear for this beautiful creature. I was determined to learn as much as I could about horses. And I did with Sunny as one of my primary teachers. I left a career in the corporate world, returned to school after almost 40 years and became a registered psychotherapist now with a herd of 9 horses. Oh how I miss this special horse. He earned a barn name ‘Sunny with a Chance of Tornado’ but for me he was Sacred Sunny. For that I will always be grateful. #equineassistedtherapy #therapyhorse #sacred #horses
