“One of the biggest blocks to practicing self-co “One of the biggest blocks to practicing self-compassion is the belief that it will undermine our motivation. People think that if they are kind to themselves, they will become lazy, irresponsible and complacent. The opposite is true. Tender self-compassion allows us to accept ourselves unconditionally, while fierce self-compassion spurs us to take action to change situations or behaviours that cause suffering. This means that instead of taking it personally when we fail, we remember that failure is human, and we try to learn from our mistakes. Research shows that self-compassionate people are more likely to take personal responsibility for their mistakes. “ — Dr. Kristin Neff #selfcompassion #equinefacilitatedtherapy #equineassistedtherapy #equineassistedlearning #psychotherapy #puppy

But what everyone has in common is that no matter how they grieve, they share a need for their grief to be witnessed. That doesn’t mean needing someone to try to lessen it or reframe it for them. The need is for someone to be fully present to the magnitude of their loss without trying to point out the silver lining.” — David Kessler #equinefacilitatedtherapy #grief
Taking in one of the best presentations I’ve hea Taking in one of the best presentations I’ve heard on energy, neuroscience and spirituality delivered by @enfo.frankanderson hosted by @therapywisdom called New Dimensions of Trauma Healing. Dr. Anderson completed his residency and was a clinical instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is both a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist and specializes in the treatment of trauma and dissociation. He is passionate about teaching brain-based psychotherapy and integrating current neuroscience knowledge with the IFS model of therapy. What a great way to kickstart our year. “Energy medicine works with emotions and spirit. The goal of accessing energy when working on trauma is to change the vibration of something and to help facilitate the release of stuck energy, which I think is trauma. Trauma is stored in the body, trauma can be stored in emotions, and trauma can be stored in thoughts.” — Dr. Frank Anderson. Thank you for having the courage to speak about such a fascinating topic. #psychotherpy #equinefacilitatedtherapy #equineassistedtherapy #ptsd #ptsdawareness #trauma #mentalhealth
