Hospice Peterborough’s Wellness Day at The Mane Intent

In April, we hosted one of our largest Team Wellness days to date for Hospice Peterborough. Over 35 staff participated in a day that included information sharing and engaging in meaningful team-building exercises. We replicated the client journey and invited Sebastian, our ‘horse client,’ to engage in the journey together with the team (and Seb was the perfect client).  It was a day of laughter and learning for all.

In addition to our psychotherapy-focused offerings, The Mane Intent also offers Team Wellness and Team Building Days. Participants can engage in a series of exercises that may explore themes like wellness, communication, conflict and collaboration.

If you are not familiar with the work of Hospice Peterborough, it’s an exceptional organization with a focus on supporting individuals and families through life-threatening illness and grief. I am personally involved with the organization as a volunteer and participate in Hospice Singers, a small group that participates in Memorial Events and bedside singing for those receiving end of life care at Hospice.

The organization recently shared its annual report for 2024/25 and here are a few highlights of their important work:

  • 14,505 hours contributed by volunteers, the equivalent of 8 full-time staff
  • 98% of Client Satisfaction Survey respondents said they would recommend Hospice Peterborough to family and friends.
  • 612 number of grief clients
  • 132 children and youth supported in their grief
  • 700 clients and caregivers served
  • 2,488 number of grief group attendees
  • 364 number of grief groups
  • 7,691 phone calls answered by reception volunteers and 12,496 clients and visitors who care were greeted as they walked through the doors
  • 233 education sessions were held for volunteers supporting clients and visitors to Hospice and in the community
  • 14,505 volunteer hours logged.
  • The Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultant led 182 sessions
  • 313 groups were held across 10 different grief programs at Hospice Peterborough supporting 587 people experiencing grief
  • 349 clients with a palliative diagnosis were assess by Nurse Navigators

It was an honour for us to have this opportunity to support such a significant organization in our community. If you are looking for a unique and engaging wellness/team-building day for your group — please reach out at 416-347-3235.
