Welcome Clyde!

Clyde is our newest team member – arriving in August from a horse dealer in Sudbury, Ontario. We know very little about Clyde’s history. What we’ve learned to date about this gentle giant is that he has a soft, kind eye and seems to appreciate any kindness that is directed his way.

After his initial vet check upon arrival, we believe that Clyde, estimated to be around age 14, has endured a physical trauma to the left side of his neck resulting in some partial paralysis in his throat, lower eye and lower lip. He struggles to swallow hay. He chews it up and spits it out. He’s underweight for his size. He’s had his teeth checked and has been dewormed. Because of these issues, Clyde is on a special daily feeding regime and receives a big breakfast in the barn. We are working hard to help him put some weight on.

Clyde is still working his way into the herd, but he has already worked his way into our hearts.
