Creating Memorable Tourism Experiences With Intent

Planning a visit to Peterborough-Kawartha’s next year? Come see us at The Mane Intent. We promise a memorable equine tourism experience designed with intent.

That’s because The Mane Intent is the recipient of Regional Tourism Organization 8’s (RTO8) Partnership Allocation Program. RTO 8 supports tourism partners like us in Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland County and Peterborough & the Kawarthas in the creation of unique and authentic experiences for visitors to this region.

Earlier this year, we had an opportunity to participate in RTO 8’s IGNITE Program. It’s a 4-day experiential tourism workshop intended to activate the potential for experiential travel. It truly was a unique mosaic of experiences that invited each participant to consider what’s possible within our own offerings when you pull together like-minded hearts and souls who appreciate a great story meant to be shared with others. I loved it and have written a blog about my experience here.

Because I really do believe our unique offering is meant to be shared with others – I responded to RTO 8’s invitation to receive one-on-one experiential travel professional coaching from Nancy Arsenault, Managing Partner and Experience Gal of Tourism Café Canada. This organization is a leader in experiential travel training, visitor experience assessments, and strategic and destination development solutions.

Their passion is for rural communities and small-to-medium businesses (like ours!) which are at the heart of the overall tourism mix where visitors are looking to get off the beaten track, connect with locals, and engage in meaningful ways when they travel. Over the past 20 years, they’ve trained thousands of tourism operators, destination marketers, economic development officers, and others with a tourism mandate in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

I am so looking forward to this opportunity to access a wealth of knowledge, and receive one-on-one training and coaching that is specific to our business and our goals. I will be working closely with Nancy to set goals, brainstorm some ideas, continue to develop my knowledge and define success. Our shared goal is the creation of a new equine experiential offering that will draw more people out to the farm to connect with the special herd of horses that call this place home.

This is a shout out to Kawarthas Northumberland RTO8 for supporting the development of new tourism products and services which can connect visitors to the region through authentic, engaging experiences. It is also a huge thank to Nancy in anticipation of the magic we are going to create together. Bring it on.
