Ice Storm 2025 Knocks Out Trees and Power Lines

It took some time for us to recover from the ice storm that hit our area March 29, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Like thousands of others, we were without power for an extended period as heavy ice covered the trees and power lines around us. Sadly the farm sustained significant and irreplaceable tree damage and we lost a few grand old trees. The cedar trees in particular were really impacted and collapsed beyond recovery.

Fortunately, all horses and other creatures who call the farm home were fine. We were all a bit spooked and activated by the sound of trees actively falling around us with the weight of the ice. This was a significant weather event reminding us of the power Mother Nature wields over the land and those who live here.
