“Resilience is about how you recharge, not how you endure.”
— Shawn Achor and Michelle Gielan, Harvard Business Review
Are you a leader who believes that the longer your tough it out, then the more successful you will be?
Maybe it’s time to rethink and recharge. Research has found that there is a direct link between lack of recovery and increased incidence of health and safety problems. According to Shawn Achor, New York Times best selling author of “The Happiness Advantage” and “Before Happiness”, a lack of recovery — whether by disrupting sleep with thoughts of work or having continuous cognitive arousal by watching our phones — is costing our companies $62 billion a year in lost productivity. The cost to human health is priceless. What is the cost to your personal health?
In today’s fast-paced world where many of us are ‘plugged-in’ 24/7, resilience (and the ability to recharge) is a must-have skill. Resilience is defined as the ability to recover from setbacks, adapt well to change, and keep going in the face of adversity.
One-day Workshop: Strengthening Leadership Resilience at Work
Here’s an offering to build your resilience at work, while strengthening relationships with people across your organization. Working in partnership with horses as natural coaches, this unique experiential learning offering provides you with an opportunity to develop personal coping skills and recovery more quickly from set-backs.
This workshop is offered exclusively to groups of 4-8 participants and can be customized to reflect your organizational development goals. Private sessions and individual coaching is also available.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is designed for anyone in a leadership role — particularly high achievers and decision-makers — who are seeking greater balance and the necessary skills to remain grounded at work under pressure.
What will participants learn?
Participants will have an opportunity to:
How It Works:
By engaging in ground work exercises with horses in a controlled setting, together we uncover communication and interpersonal behaviours. How the horse reacts to your intent, body language and emotional response provides us with clear, intuitive feedback you can use to identify opportunities for individual leadership development. No previous horse experience is required and at no point will participants be required to ride a horse.
Each exercise is a combination of demonstration, hands on exploration and guided discussion. This allows participants the opportunity to experience, observe and reflect on how attitude, body language and intent impact what we communicate and the results we get when leading change. All exercises with the horses are on the ground and guided by a professionally certified effectiveness coach and facilitator with significant organizational leadership experience.
