Love Letters: An Expressive Writing Circle for WomenThe Mane Intent
Back by popular demand…
Please join our writing circle with a focus on well-being.
Over the course of eight weeks, as part of this supportive and safe writing circle for women, we’ll explore our thoughts, feelings, and inner voice, connecting with our heart words.
For this round, we’ll be exploring the theme of belonging. Our time together will be guided by the book Belonging — Remembering Ourselves Home — by Canadian author and dreamworker Toko-pa Tuner. Her work focuses on “restoring the feminine, reciprocity with nature, honouring grief, ritual, and making beauty.” She describes the absence of belonging as the “great silent wound of our times.”
Our love letters will focus on self-reflection and self-compassion, exploring our relationship with self, others, and nature.
I had the good fortune of hearing Toko-pa Turner’s spoken word this past summer on a 12-day trip from Ontario to Newfoundland I shared with my daughter Sarah. Toko-pa’s words are delicious, deep and dripping with wisdom. My intent is to visit themes of belonging, longing and presence that she invites us to explore.
Through a series of facilitated writing exercises and activities, we will tap into the power of the written word to fuel our creative expression, release the thoughts the might be holding us back and find our own unique voice.
This workshop does not require any previous writing experience and participants are not required to share their writing with other participants. It is recommended that you purchase a copy of Toko-pa Turner’s Belonging – Remembering Ourselves Home prior to start of the circle, but it is not a prerequisite for participation.
This is an invitation to practice free flow writing, creative expression and reflective journaling. Journals will be provided or you can choose to bring your own.
