Leading With Intent — Horse Assisted Coaching for Leaders

Eleanor2Horses mirror the essential qualities of leadership — trust, authenticity, honesty, intuition, listening, a willingness of spirit and intuition. They have no agenda with us. They simply reflect our strength of character, our heart, our internal congruence and our self-limiting perceptions. Horses help us understand that leadership begins with who we are being. Horses help us close the gap between how we actually present ourselves to others and how we think we are being. Connecting to success and becoming a leader in your own life is always a team sport and horses are master teachers in this journey.”  Julia Felton, Author, Unbridled Success: How the Secret Lives of Horses Can Impact Your Leadership, Teamwork and Communication Skills

“I would recommend this type of team builder as it is a super way to help teams explore and develop strengths and areas of enhancement. The horses became a safe, non-threatening way to explore themes, allowing our team the opportunity to gain insight about our dynamics and leadership style.”
– Participant, Leading with Intent Workshop, Connor Homes

Many businesses and organizations are seeking a high performance culture. Culture is about leadership. A constructive culture is defined simplistically as one oriented towards achievement, self- actualization, creativity, participation, valuing people, and one that places a high priority on healthy relationships between people.

At The Mane Intent, we work with individuals and teams to help you take the lead, honing your interpersonal skills for optimal group performance, innovation, endurance and deep personal and professional satisfaction.

Our customized workshops are based on the Twelve “Power of the Herd” Guiding Principles outlined by Linda Kohanov in her book “The Power of the Herd – A Nonpredatory Approach to Social Intelligence, Leadership and Innovation.”  Participants will learn to:

  • Use emotions as information
  • Improve communication skills, including non-verbal
  • Identify how you respond to people and tasks
  • Recognize reactions to stress and pressure
  • Become better listeners
  • Prepare for difficult conversations
  • Discover your authentic leadership style
  • Enhance your decision-making and team work skills
  • Learn the ‘give and take’ of consensual leadership.

How it Works:Management Coach Team 4

By engaging in ground work exercises with horses in a controlled setting, together we uncover communication and interpersonal behaviours. How the horse reacts to your communication, behavior and body language provides us with clear, intuitive feedback you can use to identify opportunities for teams and individual leadership development. At no point will participants be required to ride or mount a horse.

Each exercise is a combination of demonstration, hands on exploration and guided discussion. This allows participants the opportunity to experience, observe and reflect on how attitude, body language and intent impact what we communicate and the results we get.

Attention Coaches and Consultants:

Working with horses is an ideal opportunity for you to expand your services to your clients by providing them with a memorable experiential learning opportunity. Consider bringing your clients here for some work with the horses, building upon the work you are currently doing with them. Watching their interaction with the horses will give you more insight into their patterns of interaction and ways of working and will put you in a stronger position to support them.
